Quilt top needs to be ironed and all loose threads cut off.
(Loose threads left on the back of the quilt top may shadow through and show
when quilt is finished. This is especially true of light colored quilts).
Please be sure all seams are secure.
If there is any fullness in your quilt or ruffles in your
borders, the utmost of care will be taken when quilting to try to ease in the
fullness. But sometimes with excessive fullness tucks and pleats are
impossible to avoid.
Quilt batting and backing (if provided) should be at least 3—4
inches larger on all 4 sides than the actual quilt top itself. Example: 80 x
80 quilt top; 88 X 88 batting and backing.
Batting and backing should be squared with straight edges.
Quilt top, batting and backing should be separate.
DO NOT BASTE OR PIN TOGETHER!
When seaming your backing material please remove all selvage
edges. Selvage can distort the quilt back. Press all seams.
If using sheets for backings, remove all hems. When using
sheeting because of the higher thread count irregularities can occur in the
stitch quality. Do not suggest the use of sheets for backing.
